Anna E. Hicks


Anna E. Hicks 75, of Galway, peacefully passed away with family by her side Tuesday afternoon, August 22, 2017 at Saratoga Center in Ballston Spa.

She was born June 2, 1942 in Ballston Spa, NY, daughter to Helen Arnold and Howard Denison, and step daughter to Louise Cooper Denison.

Anna was a hairdresser and a homemaker. Her greatest joy was spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed her desserts, camping, fishing, car rides, garage sales, playing card games and dominos (her favorite was chicken foot).

She is predeceased by a little angel.

Anna is survived by her loving husband of almost 52 years Leon Hicks of Galway, and their three daughters- LeeAnn (Jim) Salisbury of Amsterdam, Cindy (Kelby) Truax of Ft Edward, Traci (Adom) Giffin of Potsdam; two grandchildren Kayla and Connor Giffin; two step-grandchildren John (Nori) Salisbury of Hagaman, Jennifer (Ken) Kerfien of Fulton; nine step-great grandchildren Mackenzie Kerfien of Fulton, Brody, Christian, Haley Salisbury and Shannon, Mark, Maggie Hughes of Hagaman, Maddie (John) Hotaling of Albany, and Brett Dudka of Amsterdam; two grand doggies Gunner and Sophie; two brothers, Chester (Betty) Denison of Ballston Spa and Roger (MaryAnn) Denison of Galway; several cousins, nieces and nephews; as well as lifelong childhood friend Donna Earl of Galway.

Family would like to extend their sincere thanks for the wonderful care given to their “Anna Banana.” Her 2nd family- Alyssa and the best staff of nurses and aids on A-2; especially Tammy with her extra TLC and HGTV lunch dates. As well as the support from Laura and Hospice nurse Andrew.

Anna’s family invites their family and friends to join in the Celebration of her Life on September 9th at C&R Restaurant from 11:30-2:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Anna’s name may be made to Galway Volunteer Ambulance Co, PO Box 151 or Galway Volunteer Fire Dept., 2175 Galway Rd, both of Galway, NY 12074.

I remember Anna's beauty parlor she had in her dad's Glendale Hotel in East Galway. My father (Guy Elwood Denison) was cousin to Anna's dad, Howard.
