Calvin E. Vickers

Calvin E. Vickers, 71, passed away on Tuesday, February 20, 2018. Born in Amsterdam, NY on May 15, 1946, he was the son of John and Margaret Vickers.

He graduated from Perth Central School, Class of 1964 and proudly served in the US Army. Calvin worked for the NYS Thruway Authority for 30 years, retiring in 1999.

Calvin liked to keep in shape. He was an avid bicyclist and also enjoyed walking and working out. He was a huge football fan watching both the NFL and College.

He was predeceased by his sister Margaret Narbon and brother John Vickers. Calvin is survived by his children Michelle Fortune (Rod) of Ballston Spa and James Vickers (Laura) of Ohio; grandsons Joey Gugliemelli and Josh Vickers; brother Lawrence Vickers (Barbara) of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services with military honors will be held 11am Tuesday, February 27 at the Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Saratoga National Cemetery Honor Guard Association.

We are so shocked and saddened to find this obit while looking for another. Calvin was a good internet friend whom I met personally when living in NY. His dry and sensible humor always provided a chuckle. We shall miss his patriotism and banter but especially his friendship. R.I.P. Cal.
