Carmine J. Gizzi


Carmine J. Gizzi, 91, passed away Wednesday, August 2, 2017. Born on November 21, 1925 in Albany, NY, he was the son of the late Carmine J. Gizzi, Sr. and Jennie A. (Elia) Gizzi.

A lifelong area resident, Carmine served in the United States Army Air Force during World War II where he was awarded several medals including three bronze battle stars and a purple heart. He worked for over 30 years at Tobin Packing in Albany and later as a carpenter for NYRA for over 20 years. Carmine enjoyed woodworking, golf and gardening. A communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Ballston Spa, he was a member of Henry Cornell American Legion Post 234, VFW Post 358 and Ballston Spa Elks Lodge 2619.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his sisters, Cecelia Manning and Anne Fitzgerald, his brothers Joseph Gizzi and Paul Gizzi, Sr., his son Richard Dingman and his wives, Mary Gizzi and Jeanette Gizzi. He is survived by his Brothers, Mike, Vincent, Peter and Robert Gizzi; sister, Rosemarie June; and children, Marge and Terry Dingman and Donna Angermiller; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 10:30am Monday, August 7, 2017 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Milton Avenue, Ballston Spa where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Burial with military honors will follow at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Duell Road, Schuylerville. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Sunday, August 6 from 2 to 5 pm at Armer Funeral Home, Inc., 39 East High Street, Ballston Spa.
