David Lyon, 90, passed away on Saturday, January 14, 2017. Born in Kearny, NJ on August 4, 1926, he was the son of Samuel and Margaret Lyon. He was a US Navy Seabee, serving in World War II. He married Helen Rowland in 1954 and raised his family in New Britain, Connecticut. He and his wife moved to Mystic, Connecticut in 1975.
After World War II, David attended and graduated from Dickinson College in Pa and was then employed at Rowland Products in Kensington CT. From there, he costarted, owned and operated Tectonic Industries in Berlin, Connecticut. David was a member of ROMEO in Mystic CT and a volunteer with the Gung Ho Gang at Mystic Seaport. He was an avid golfer and tennis player for many years and also enjoyed sailing.
He was predeceased by his loving wife Helen in 2013 and their son Robert, and his brothers Samuel, Archie and Crawford. David is survived by his son David Lyon (Angela) and grandchildren Stephen, Gabriel, and Peter, all of Willimantic CT; and his daughter Barbara Brower (Dennis Nye) granddaughter Jennifer and great grandchildren Derek, Amari and Kiyah, all of Saratoga, NY.
A private family service will be held. Memorial contributions in memory of David may be made to your favorite charity.
