Dolores V. Rhodes

Dolores V. Rhodes, 76, passed away on Wednesday, February 21, 2018. Born in Troy, NY on April 29, 1941, she was the daughter of Matthew and Helen Hipwell.

Dolores was a waitress in Ballston Spa for many years. She had numerous loyal customers who would only want her to wait on them. She was a kindhearted and loving person who made friends wherever she went. She always put others before herself. She faced many obstacles in her life but with her strong faith in God she managed them all with a smile. She was a devote Catholic and communicate of St. Mary’s Church in Ballston Spa. All who knew her will deeply miss her. She was truly a gift from God.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband Ronald Rhodes, parents Matthew and Helen Hipwell, brothers John Hipwell and Paul Hipwell, sister Bernadette Agars, brothers in law James Kane and Lawrence Agars. Dolores is survived by her loving daughter Christine Rhodes; siblings Helene LaRose (Richard), Robert Hipwell (Charlotte), Thomas Hipwell, Marcia Kane, sisters in law Barbara Testo Hipwell and Barbara Burhans Hipwell, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 9am Tuesday, February 27 at St Mary’s Church, Milton Avenue, Ballston Spa where a mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Burial will follow in the Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Duell Road, Schuylerville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Dolores may be made to St. Mary’s Church, 167 Milton Avenue, Ballston Spa, NY 12020 or to one’s choice.

The family would like to thank Chris and Dave, Paul and June, Gerald and Kathy as well as Kym and Mary for their help and care over the years.

Aunt Dee was an amazing woman. She was so kind and had a great sense of humor. I’ll miss hearing her compete with my mom to unscramble words in the daily paper. She will be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with you Christine.
