Dorothy "Pat" Samascott


Dorothy “Pat” Samascott, 85, passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home on Saturday, February 3, 2018. Born in New York, NY on September 3, 1932, she was the daughter of James and Cecilia Lamb. She grew up in the village of Nassau and graduated from St John’s Academy in Rensselaer, moving to Ballston Spa in 1967.

While raising her own children, she also babysat for many families caring for them all like they were her own for over forty years. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her greatest joy. In her free time she liked to bake and spend time with her family. Every year Pat and her sisters would vacation in Florida together. Pat also vacationed in Maine with her husband Howard. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Ballston Spa.

She was predeceased by her husband Howard, son Michael, and her sisters Katherine Falkowski, Agnes VanBlarcum, Alice Rembach, Anna Levanites and Helen Lamb.

Pat is survived by her children Timothy Samascott of Ballston Spa, Thomas Samascott (Laural) of Ballston Spa, Susan Samascott (Jack) of Ballston Spa, Joseph Samascott (Mary) of Ballston Spa and Stephen Samascott of Glenville; grandchildren Wayne Samascott (Sarah), Shannon Sheft (Mike), Jessica Blust (Anthony), Stanley Janczak (Jennifer), Katie Leiser (Brad), Mary Yager (Kyle), Sarah Samascott (Mac) and Stephanie Samascott; brother in law Edward Falkowski; nine great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 9:30am Thursday, February 8 at St. Mary’s Church, Milton Avenue, Ballston Spa where a mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Burial will follow at 1pm in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Nassau. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Wednesday, February 7 from 5pm to 8pm at Armer Funeral Home, Inc., 39 East High Street, Ballston Spa.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Pat may be made to St. Mary’s Church, 167 Milton Avenue, Ballston Spa, NY 12020.

The family would like to thank Dorothy’s neighbors on Coachman Drive for all their love and support throughout the years.
