Edith Theresa Waldrop

Edith Theresa Waldrop, 87, passed away Monday, February 26, 2018 at home surrounded by her family. Born on October 27, 1930 in Brooklyn, NY she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Edith Anne (Collins) Jimison.

Edith’s mother died young and she was raised by her “other mother”, Una L. Meacham and grew up with her in DeKalb, NY. In her late teens she moved back to New York City and graduated from Washington Irving High School in Manhattan. A woman ahead of her time, she continued her education at Paterson College in NJ and became a school teacher. Edith settled in Paramus, NJ where she resided for 44 years and taught at Midland Elementary School and Westbrook Junior High. She has resided in Ballston Spa since 2006.

Edith was a good friend and neighbor and was very handy. She was never afraid to tackle a project at home and if something needed to be fixed, she simply read about it and did it herself.

In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her brothers, Joseph, Edward and George and her sister, Florence. She is survived by her daughters, Sharon Ayers of Hampton, NJ, Patty Gleason (Kevin) of Wantage, NJ and Cathleen Wallis (Warren) of Ballston Spa; her grandchildren, Bryant, Sarah, Tim, Chris, Caitlin, Melissa, Kevin Jr., Theresa, Neil and Sha Sha; her great grandchildren, Mallory, Brynn, Emma, Noah, Savannah, Leana, Luca, Leo, Mia, Cole and Noelle; and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to call from 4pm to 7pm on Wednesday at Armer Funeral Home, Inc., 39 East High St, Ballston Spa. A prayer service will be held 6:30pm.

The family will also receive friends on Thursday from 4pm to 8pm at the Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 113 South Fareview Ave, Paramus, NJ. Funeral services will be held at 10am on Friday at the Vander Plaat Memorial Home. Interment will be in George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus.
