George "Ben" Jones

George “Ben” Jones, 86, passed away on Thursday, June 15, 2017. He was born in Doylestown, Pennsylvania, on July 22, 1930.

Ben served in the US Navy for 20 years, retiring in 1971. He bartended at Abners in Ballston Spa and then worked at Saratoga Hospital as an engineer for many years. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and hunting. He was a member of the Birch Clearing Hunting Camp in Stoney Creek, where he also was the camp cook.

His greatest joy was his grandchildren and the time he spent with them.

Ben is survived by his wife of 57 years, Patricia; his children John Paul Jones (Jamie) of Middle Grove, Joann Harris (Ronald Vaughn) of Ballston Spa, Kelly Jones (Richard West) of Ballston Spa and Michael Jones (Sandra McClure) of Greenwich; grandchildren Sara, Christopher, Nikia, Tom, Hanna, Michael, Tabitha and Tasya; great granddaughters Aria and Joenah; great great grandson Benjamin; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters, Agnes, Gladys and Evelyn.

Funeral services with military honors will be held 2:30pm Monday, June 19 at the Gerald B H Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Duell Road, Schuylerville. Relatives and friends are invited to meet at the cemetery at 2:15pm.

Memorial contributions in memory of Ben may be made to the American Heart Association.
