Herbert G. Sanders

Herbert G. Sanders, 83, left this world on Wednesday, March 8, 2017. Born in Wilmington NY, August 1, 1933, he was the son of the late Clark Jasper and Grace Warren-Sanders and brother to Oliver, Ivan, Frank and Clara Johnson all who predeceased him. Herb resided in many towns in the Capital Region but in his heart he called the Adirondack Region his home.

Herb was honorably discharged from the United States Army in 1964 after serving two tours. A hard worker his whole life, he truly was a jack of all trades and retired from New York State Department of Transportation in 1995.

As his Earthly journey ended he was reunited with his loving wife Esther who departed in 2013.

He leaves behind his children, Michelle Framolaro (Salvatore), Tammy Murphy (Frank), and David Sanders (Charlene); nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and numerous lifelong friends he made over the years.

Since his retirement in 1995, Herb found genuine happiness in the outdoors. Not one to be held down or holed up, if the weather permitted, you’d find him outside. He was an avid fisherman. He enjoyed hiking, bird watching, and gardening. He could oftentimes be found tinkering with small machinery in his garage.

His generosity and kindness were limitless and everyone who met him found him likeable, especially all his buddies who gathered most mornings for coffee and company.

The true joy in his life was his family. As the Patriarch, they gravitated to him. His daily visits from his granddaughter Nicole and great-granddaughter Kailey were how he started each day. He spent Friday evenings with his grandchildren Colin and Nicole, and spent every Saturday with his daughter Tammy. Over the miles, he looked forward to his phone chats and visits with his daughter Shelley. He and his grandson Joe were inseparable, best friends til the end. His loss has created a vacancy in their lives that can never be filled.

A private funeral service will be held. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to VETHELP at 1214 Saratoga Road, Ballston Spa, NY 12020 or the National Wildlife Federation at P.O. Box 1691, Merrifield VA 22116.
