John J. Gorman

John J. Gorman passed away peacefully on March 9, 2017. He was born on April 6, 1943 to the late John P. Gorman and Kathleen Gorman. Jack grew up in the Bronx, graduated from Power Memorial High School, Fordham University, and Fairleigh Dickinson University. He was a long time resident of Middletown, NY.

After his military service in the Marine Corps, Jack worked 25 years in the banking industry. He then went on to a second career teaching in Port Jervis, the Bronx, and SUNY Orange as an adjunct professor.

Jack’s greatest joy in life was his family which included his children, Ellen Gorman, Maureen (Paul) Blazejeski, John (Jennifer) Gorman, Christopher (Ilissa) Gorman, Elizabeth Gorman, and Meaghan (Adrian) Gilmore, and their mother, Mary Gorman. He was predeceased by his daughter, Kathleen. Jack was the proud “Popa” of Johnny, Cassie, Liam, Jackie, Kaelyn, Dylan and Ethan and the big brother to Kevin (Marie) Gorman and Lawrence Gorman. He is also survived by several loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

There will be a visitation on Wednesday, March 15th, at the Hodder-Farenga Funeral Home in Yonkers, 4pm to 8 pm, with a mass at St. Paul’s Church in Yonkers on Thursday, March 16th at 10:00 a.m. followed by burial at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, NY.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of John to your favorite charity.
