Linda Lee Thompson

Linda Lee Thompson 74, passed away peacefully on the evening of Thursday, March 23, 2017. Born in Augusta, NJ on June 6, 1942, she was the daughter of Merrill and Shirley Walkup.

She attended Lake Luzerne High School. After working for several employers over the years, Linda started her own business, Twice As Nice Bargain Shop in the Village of Ballston Spa. She was also a caregiver before she became ill.

Linda enjoyed cooking, collecting (dolls, antiques, marbles, etc.), playing bingo and listening to music (including The Beatles, Bee Gees and she adored Elvis). She also enjoyed dining out with friends and family, especially at Ecobelli’s and Mangino’s restaurants. Linda loved animals, including many of her own pets over the years. Linda was a kind and gentle person that treasured the time she spent with her family and friends.

She was predeceased by her parents Merrill and Shirley Walkup and grandchildren Robert James Wheaton III and Kera Tartaglia. Linda is survived by her husband Joseph Thompson of Ballston Spa, NY; children Robert Wheaton II, Jo-Anne Closson Tartaglia (Dana), Diane Closson, Joseph Closson II (Wanda) and Latasha Thompson; sister Joan Hayden (Tom) of Lake Luzerne, NY; grandchildren Joseph Closson III, Ryan Closson and Hannah Tartaglia.

A private family service will be held. Memorial contributions in memory of Linda may be made to Alzheimer’s Association at or The Community Hospice at

Linda will always remain in our hearts. Her spirit will live on forever.
