Christine Crolius

Christine Crolius, 94, passed away on Wednesday, July 28, 2021. She was born in Flushing, NY on April 1, 1927 to Gaetano and Matilda Carlomagno. After her mother passed away at an early age, she was raised by her stepmother, Domenica.

On December 5, 1948 she married her beloved husband of 57 years, John Crolius in NYC. Over the years they resided in Queens, NY, Lindenhurst, LI, Hillsdale and Craryville, NY. After John’s passing in 2006, Christine resided in Ballston Spa, NY.

At the time of her marriage, she worked in a bank in Queens, NY. Years later, Christine and John owned and operated the Hillsdale Supermarket and later owned a contracting business, of which she handled the bookkeeping. She also found time to volunteer at Columbia Memorial Hospital and with the Literacy Reading Program at the Hillsdale Library. Christine was also a member of the Ballston Area Seniors.

She found much enjoyment in music, gardening, reading, cooking, and crocheting but her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family and friends. Christine treasured her family and embraced every moment with them during her many years as a homemaker, loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Her sweet, loving nature was adored and treasured by her family and friends as well. She will be in our hearts forever.

Christine is predeceased by her husband John and daughter Carolyn. She is survived by her three loving children, Robert Crolius (Monica), Irene Kelsey (Brad), and Suzanne Atwood (Matt); grandchildren, Bradley Kelsey II (Priscilla), Matthew Kelsey (Terri), Stephanie Kelsey (Matt), Wesley Atwood, and Michael Atwood (Kristine); great grandchildren, Elizabeth and Jonathan Kelsey, John and Julia Kelsey, and Godric America.

A private service will be held and Christine will be laid to rest with her husband at the Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the staff of 2 Springs at Wesley Health Care Center, especially Beth Mannarino for her devotion and compassion. We would also like to extend our thanks to The Community Hospice of Saratoga.

Memorial contributions in memory of Christine may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of Northeastern NY, 4 Pine West Plaza, Suite 405, Albany, NY 12205.
