Clifford E. Lawrence

Clifford E. Lawrence, Sr. 76 passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday, November 15, 2019 in Saratoga Springs, NY after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Clif was born in Ballston Spa, NY on August 18, 1943 to Zillah (Butterfield) and Ambrose Lawrence.

Clif worked for Verizon for 33 years before retiring in 2002. He split his time between Ocala, FL and Schuylerville, NY before moving full time to Ocala in late 2017. He had a love hate relationship with the game of golf and often kidded about building a 14 hole course so he could break 80. He and his son were hosts of the Annual Lawrence Invitational Charity Two Person Scramble for 20 years, sharing laughs and creating memories with friends while raising money for those less fortunate. Clif also had a passion for thoroughbred racing, becoming an owner and breeder, reaching the winners circle at Saratoga Race Course several times this decade. He was quite creative in the kitchen and loved to test his recipes on his family.

He was a good listener with a great laugh and a generous soul whose kindness will live on in our hearts forever.

Clif with one F, Silver, Focker, Poppa, and Dad as he was known to his family and friends is survived by his life partner of more than 25 years Carol Barrett, his sister Gail Burkey (Larry) and his two children, Tiffany Lawrence and Clifford “Chip” Lawrence Jr. (Wendy) along with his 3 granddaughters Halie Cederstrom, Chloe Lawrence, and Maddie Lawrence whom he cherished so dearly, plus many nieces and nephews. Clif was predeceased by his parents and 4 other siblings.

The family is planning to host a celebration of life this summer at Saratoga Race Course.

Memorial contributions in memory of Clif may be made to Old Friends at Cabin Creek, 483 Sandhill Rd, Greenfield Center, NY 12833.

Chip, Wendy and family..
We are so sorry for your loss.
Your Dad was one of my favorite Verizon people.
Actually... Verizon strike assignment was how I learned that there really were 2 Clif Lawrence’s. Who knew the world could handle two of them? We look forward to celebrating his life with you this summer.
