Constance Costopoulos


Constance Costopoulos "Connie" formerly of East Line Road, Ballston Lake, passed away peacefully on February 9, 2011, at Maplewood Manor in Ballston Spa, after a long illness. Born in Burlington, Vermont on September 25, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Sam and Nikki Costopoulos. She graduated from Burlington High School in 1956.

Upon graduation, she was employed at General Electric Co in Burlington. She then moved to Oxen Hill, Maryland and was employed by the National Rifle Association and later became a patent and legal clerk for the Washington DC law firm of Cameron, Kerchom and Sutton. In 1982 she returned to the Capital District and joined the Research and Development Department of General Electric, retiring in 1997.

Connie was a former member of the River Valley Sweet Adelines and participated in a variety of amateur musicals and plays. She enjoyed skiing, line dancing and competed in regional roller skating events.

She was predeceased by her sister, Pauline and brother, Peter. Connie is survived by her son, John Stewart (Bridget) and her granddaughter, Niki of Oxen Hill, Maryland, her devoted friend of 19 years, Edward Keeler of Ballston Lake, her brother, George Costopoulos, (Helen) of Colchester, VT, her nieces and nephews, Nikki Filipone (Steve), Dianna Bonk (Dave), Steve Costopoulos all of Ballston Lake, Dr. Donna Tizard (Richard) of Boston, MA, Aleta Costopoulos of Burlington, VT and Dr. Mark Costopoulos (Andrea) of Rochester, MN. She is also survived by several great nieces and nephews and one great great niece.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Saturday, February 19, from 1-2:30pm at Armer Funeral Home, Inc 39 East High Street, Ballston Spa. A service will follow at 2:30pm.
