Edward A. Thomas

Edward A. Thomas, 78, of Ballston Spa, New York, passed away on Monday, May 3, 2021, after a short illness. Ed was born in Ballston Spa, NY, on December 20, 1942, to William and Olive Thomas. A lifelong resident, he attended Ballston Spa High School and technical school in Albany, NY.

A devoted and loving family man, friend, and generous community member, always there to help anyone in need. He enjoyed interactions with friends and neighbors. He loved his community and was a volunteer Pop Warner football coach and member of the Lions Club.

Ed had a lengthy and successful career in industrial insulating materials with GE, vonRoll Isola, and US Samica Inc. His hobbies and passions included camping, fishing, gardening, bird watching, and just spending time with his family and friends.

Married for 56 years to his high school sweetheart, Rose Marie (Cinguegrano) Thomas, who survives him, Ed spent every day just as much in love as when they first met. Ed is also survived by his children Lauren Rose (Scott), Scott Thomas (Sarah), and Suzanne Winkler (Keith); grandchildren Vincent, Kenneth, Ty, and Mia; and several nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by his parents William and Olive, and three brothers, William, Russell, Louis, and his lifelong best friends, Kenneth Brown and Samuel Potter.

A private family service will be held. Contributions in Ed’s memory can be made to Code Blue Saratoga or Interfaith Partnership for the Homeless (IPH) in Albany, New York.

Just last week I had spoken to your Dad, checking on him, your mom, giving him the latest family news, that Aunt Bobbie August, from Sidney,NY, had recently celebrated her 95th birthday... Which of course always led into our conversations of days gone by of how we would all from Schenectady side of the family, come to Ballston Spa, for the family get together's.....
He told me that your mom was relocated to a different facility, he had mentioned that he was happy that she is being well taken care of... He himself was totally dedicated to your mom...
We were totally shocked to read in yesterday's Schenectady Gazette, that he had passed...
Please know that George and I are totally sadden by his passing, and for his children and grandchildren, to have their beloved father, grandfather pass.... He will always be with you all in your memories and in your hearts....

To Rose and family, my deepest sympathy. Throughout his life, growing up, Eddy was the spiting image of my father, his uncle. I was always a bit taken back when I saw him after my dad had passed away. May he rest in peace.

Aunt Rose, Lauren, Scott And Suzanne,
We were so saddened to learn of “Uncle Ed’s” passing. What a super person, loving husband, father and proud grandfather. Our dad always said: “Ed’s my friend, and he’s not just a friend he’s a GOOD friend. He never let me down...ever..” we remember good times on McLean St. and Dublin Drive so well and camping. We knew Ed and Rose were always people we could trust just like parents. It was so true and accurate in his obituary to mention dad and Sam. They were in each other’s weddings and childhood pals which never faded. I (Tim) stopped over to see him a couple months ago and what a great chat we had. He had just saw Rose and we caught up with all recent news. His memory will forever live on in all our hearts. God bless Uncle Ed. He will be missed.
