Everett "Gene" Kenyon

Everett “Gene” Kenyon passed into eternity surrounded by his loving family at the age of 85 on June 8, 2021 after a long battle with cancer and dementia.

Gene was a graduate of URI and worked for the NY State Health Department for over 30 years as a senior sanitarian. He also achieved the rank of Lt. Colonel in the Army Reserves. After retirement he and his wife fulfilled their dream of traveling the world together. They visited England, Germany, Italy, Cuba, Scotland, Mexico, and Canada. They also made their way to Alaska, Hawaii, and their favorite, the US Virgin Islands as well as traveling across country by car twice to see the country. After traveling extensively, they spent 15 winters in Port Charlotte, FL.

Gene’s lifelong hobby was collecting minerals and was a dedicated rock hound. He looked forward to attending the International Gem and Mineral Show in Tucson, AZ each February. He also enjoyed displaying his favorite specimens in his home. His second hobby which he took up in retirement was wood turning. He loved finding exotic types of wood to work with and created over 100 beautiful bowls. He was a member of both the Capital Region Mineral Society and the local Wood Turners Group.

Gene is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, June, and his three children, Kerry (Michele) Kenyon of North Carolina, Kimberly (Paul) Berry of Saratoga Springs, and Keith (Janet) Kenyon of Nashville, TN. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Andrew, Kasey, Christopher, Samantha, and Elizabeth as well as one great grandchild, Kal, his two sisters, Judith Ladas and Marcia Avery, and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Community Hospice of Saratoga for their loving support and care during Gene’s final weeks, as well as his church family of First Baptist Church of Ballston Spa where Gene worshiped for over 50 years.

Funeral services will be held 9:30am Tuesday, June 15 at Armer Funeral Home, Inc., 39 East High Street, Ballston Spa. Burial with military honors will follow at Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation to Community Hospice of Saratoga 179 Lawrence St. Saratoga Springs, NY 12866 or Christ’s Cupboard Food Pantry c/o First Baptist Church 202 Milton Ave. Ballston Spa, NY 12020.
