Florence Pastore Fountaine

Florence Pastore Fountaine, 94 passed away Tuesday evening, October 17, 2017. Born on February 2, 1923 in Ballston Spa, she was a lifelong resident and daughter of the late Ralph and Antoinetta (Falciano) Pastore.

A graduate of Ballston Spa High School, Florence went on to attend Albany Business College and started her career as a secretary with Catholic Charities. She then worked for many years at General Electric Company in Schenectady and also in Washington, DC. Florence’s late husband, George Fountaine co-owned and operated Miranda and Fountaine Floor Covering in Mechanicville and she could be found there helping out where needed.

A communicant of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, she was a member of Ballston Area Seniors. Florence, affectionately known as “Dolly”, enjoyed reading and knitting for her friends and family. She liked to travel and enjoyed spending time at the family camp on Saratoga Lake.

In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband, George Francis Fountaine, two
brothers, Dr. Lucien Pastore and Paul Pastore and two sisters, Rose Miranda and Irene Schallehn. She is survived by her daughters, Marie Fountaine-Engle (Kenneth) of Malta and Frances Reynolds (Thomas) of Mariaville; her sister, Theresa Miranda of Ballston Spa; grandchildren, Corey, Robyn, Karen, Marybeth, Sydney and Payton; and many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Funeral services will be held 10am Friday, October 20, 2017 at St. Mary’s Church, Milton Avenue, Ballston Spa where a mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Thursday, October 19, 2017 from 4 pm to 7 pm at Armer Funeral Home, Inc., 39 East High Street, Ballston Spa.

Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Florence to the Saratoga Hospital Foundation, 211 Church Street, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866 or to a local food pantry of your choice.

The family would like to thank the staff at Saratoga Hospital and Home of the Good Shepherd in Saratoga Springs for the care and compassion given to Florence and her family over the last several months.

Aunt Dolly was a precious gift to our family. She was always smiling and had positive things to say. I have wonderful memories of my childhood days with her. I'm so glad that my children were able to have her in their lives as well. I know she is with her loved ones who have also passed, happy and loved!
