John J. Tomasko

John J. Tomasko, 87, passed away on Monday, September 25, 2017. Born in East Mauch Chunk, Pennsylvania on July 7, 1930, he was the son of Joseph and Mary (Zemba) Tomasko. A retired career Navy veteran, he proudly served his country for 20 years.

John owned and operated Westwood Motel in Ballston Lake for 50 years. He was a member of the Southern Saratoga County Chamber of Commerce. He enjoyed bowling, bocce and playing golf. He loved spending summers at the Saratoga Race Track and evenings at the casino.

John was an extremely dedicated, caring and loving man. The selfless attention he bestowed upon his wife, children and grandchildren, plus his newest great grandchild Aubrey, was priceless.

He was predeceased by his loving wife, Clementine (Ecobelli) Tomasko, granddaughter Melanie Merola O’Donnell, sister Anna Hines and brother Joseph Tomasko. John is survived by his children Tina Kelly (Michael) of Clifton Park and Linda Donahue of Burnt Hills; stepson Stephen Merola (Vicki) of Saratoga Springs; grandchildren Brendan Kelly, Connor Kelly, Madeline Donahue, Abaigeal Donahue, Haley Donahue and Michelle Merola; great granddaughters Aubrey Donahue and Mallory Merola Sinel; sister Elizabeth Cali of Pen Argyl, PA, and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to call from 10am to 11am on Monday, October 2 at the Presbyterian- New England Congregational Church, 24 Circular Street, Saratoga Springs. Funeral service will be held at 11am with Pastor Kate Forer officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at the Gerald B H Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Duell Road, Schuylerville.
