William F. Moll

William F. Moll, 74, passed away on Saturday, February 24, 2018 surrounded by his loving family, after a short illness. Born in Troy, NY on November 14, 1943, he was the son of Myer and Beatrice Moll and a graduate of Mechanicville High School.

Bill was a fireman for the Schenectady Fire Department for 20 years, retiring in 1992.

Bill was an avid golfer competing at both the professional and amateur level. He was known on the course as the “Silver Fox”. He also owned and trained horses at the Saratoga Harness Track. When he wasn’t golfing or at the track, Bill enjoyed taking long rides, spending time with his family, and collecting art work. He enjoyed a lively debate or a good practical joke, always with a smile on his face. Bill was a true gentleman, yet he enjoyed being the life of the party.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers Warren, Leland, and Stewart Moll, sisters in law Sandra Moll and Marie Moll, and brother in law Joe Fitzpatrick. Bill is survived by his wife Carol Lawrence Moll; sons William (Stacey), David (Cheryl) and Peter; daughter Debra; stepchildren Chip (Wendy) and Tiffany; grandchildren Halie, Natalie, Zachary, Chloe, Maddie, and Cory; sisters Sylvia Fitzpatrick, Joyce Rousselle and Mary Ellen Amann (Albert); sister in law Sandy Moll; and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to a celebration of Bill’s life at 10 am on Sunday, March 4, at Eagle Crest Golf Club, 1004 Route 146A, Clifton Park.

Memorial contributions in memory of Bill may be made to the Double H Ranch, 97 Hidden Valley Road, Lake Luzerne, NY 12846 www.doublehranch.org

The family would like to thank the staff at Saratoga Hospital for the loving care and compassion given to Bill during his illness.

My deepest condolences to your and your family. I knew he was ill and was sad to learn of his passing. I didn't know him well, only through our short chats at your next-door neighbor's. He was a very sweet man. Hopefully, your wonderful memories will help you get through this sad time in your life.

Diane and I are in Myrtle Beach for two months and we were stunned and deeply saddened when we learned of Bill's passing. Please accept our sincere condolences.

We have such fond memories of Bill, many coming from our participation in golf. I always looked forward to playing as Bill's partner in numerous tournaments over the years. While we enjoyed the competition, more importantly we enjoyed the time spent together as friends. Win or lose, we always had a great time. And Diane and I so enjoyed the bond we formed with you and Bill from our impromptu meetings at various games of chance in our area.

Please know that Bill, you and your family are in our thoughts and prayers.

May Bill rest in peace.

I am so glad I made the last banquet. I got to randomly sit at the same table with Bill and Carol. I told him he hadn’t lost a step. And anybody that knew him will know what I am talking about.
I think he got a kick out of denying and knowing he was No. 1 at being a debater (B McGrath). In the end he always had that laugh. Probably what we all will miss the most. RIP Bill you were a talked about and more so thought of as one of the good guys.
