Jennie M. Talbot

Jennie Mae (Perrella) Talbot, 103, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 7, 2021. Jennie will be remembered as a devoted and loving wife, mother, and friend for whom family was the cornerstone of her life and her sons were her greatest pride and joy.

A lifelong resident of Ballston Spa, New York, Jennie was born on January 5, 1918 to Dominic and Elizabeth Perrella. Jennie graduated from Ballston Spa High School, class of 1936, where she received an art award in her senior year. She was the last surviving member of her class. As a child growing up in the Great Depression, Jennie, along with her brother and sister, worked various jobs to help the family. She was also employed for many years at The Style Shop in Ballston Spa, where many current and former residents of the Village still remember her kind and considerate ways.

Jennie was a devoted communicant of St. Mary’s Church and was active in the Ballston Spa House and Garden club and Ballston Spa Seniors. Always proud of her Italian heritage, she loved cooking and entertaining family and friends and dancing and listening to music. She especially loved Italian songs and treasured traveling to Italy in 2000, where she was able to visit her family’s village.

The love of her life was her adored husband of 31 years, Tom, who predeceased her in 1979. She was also predeceased by her parents, her brothers Nicholas and Dominic Perrella, her sister Louise Costanzo, her stepbrothers James, Frank, and Louis Capasso, and her nephew Nicholas Perrella. Jennie is survived by her sons Thomas F. Talbot, Jr. (Alison) of Des Peres, Missouri and Robert F. Talbot of Ballston Spa, her niece Sister Elizabeth Costanzo of Watervliet, and her nephew USAF Col. (Ret.) Lawrence Costanzo of Glendale, Arizona.

Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours on Wednesday, November 10 from 4pm to 7pm at Armer Funeral Home, Inc., 39 East High Street, Ballston Spa. Funeral services will be held 9am Thursday, November 11 at St. Mary’s Church, Milton Avenue, where a mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Ballston Spa.

The family extends their deepest appreciation to the Scherer family, all of whom so graciously and lovingly accepted Jennie into their family nearly 46 years ago and especially to Susan Scherer, who Jennie adored. It was you Susan who she loved the most.

The family will be forever grateful to Jennie’s best friend Monica Paige, who blessed her with endless love, affection, and laughs and whose constant display of unselfish kindness and concern for our mother will always be remembered.

The family would also like to extend their sincere appreciation to the entire staff at Schuyler Ridge, particularly her aides Rose and Patti, her nurses Marcus and Tara, and to Pia Kellogg and Linda Melander for the daily companionship and personal nursing care they provided.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Jennie may be made to the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet, 385 Watervliet Shaker Road, Latham, NY 12110.
