As a close friend of Donna, I had the pleasure to meet Joan and her late husband at our Harvard Business School graduation in 1994. A warm and beautiful and caring lady - the day was sunny and lovely like her.

Donna and I have been friends since day 1 we met in Boston, and through her, I always felt close to the Flatley family and during the past years particularly, also to Joan, although we did not meet recently. Despite challenges with her health and sight, I know Joan was surrounded by lots of love and care of many family members and friends and must have enjoyed the proximity of her two daughter Marybeth and Donna, and the warm presence of their dog.

From Amsterdam, I wish you - dear friend Donna and the rest of the Flatley family, and Joan's friends - , strength and courage to say final goodbyes and make peace with life's circle. I will light a candle to shine a beam on her beautiful live and may she 'see' her husband soon.

I touch you from a far, Petra
