Jody L. Woolley

Jody L. Woolley, 52 passed away on Friday, May 21, 2021. She was born in Niskayuna, NY on April 5, 1969. Jody was an Executive Office Manager for the Saratoga Capital District Region of New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation in Saratoga Springs.

She was a selfless Mother to her boys above all. She enjoyed being with her cherished family. She was the family event planner and loved to sing, she had the most amazing voice. Jody also enjoyed and gave her time volunteering to the “Give a Child a Christmas”. Jody fiercely loved her children, family, and her close beloved friends.

She will always be known for her big personality, her amazing wit and sense of humor and for saying literally exactly what was on her mind. Her over the top, tacky, unique taste will never be forgotten. She loved Prince and Journey and was planning an amazing trip to the Prince compound, Paisley Park with her beloved friends.

She was predeceased by her father Earl Ranson. Jody is survived by her sons Zakary Woolley and Zyler Woolley; her mother Shirley Aken; siblings Roxanne Spaulding (Lynn), Earl Ranson, Eric Aken (Courtley), and Adrienne Aken (Joey); many nieces and nephews that she loved and cherished; and her beloved granddog Lola.

A celebration of life will be held on June 19th at 2pm at 532 Plummer Road Ballston Spa, NY 12020. All are welcome and encouraged to attend. Anyone who knew her would know this is exactly what she would want us to do.

A poem written by her son:

● A mother above all
● As real as a person gets
● Taught people to take care of their own, keep family in your heart
● Her sense of humor touched everyone around her.
● Genuine in ways that’d be hard for many, but seemed effortless to her
● Kept it positive, kept it light, kept her dream alive, and fueled others dreams
● Found strengths and praised them, like fuel to a fire
● Admitted when she was wrong readily, but fought tooth and nail for the truth
● Her source of love and light came out in every action and word, making her stand out instantly
● Her ability to offer advice, being there to talk to, and offer optimism in the face of nihilism and
darkness made her a rock for many
● Joked about becoming a drunk gypsy
● Talked about going around the country doing wishes and spells for people
● Was recently thinking of making exciting changes to her life
● Her laugh and smile were beacons of joy
● Running jokes and her bringing up past events made her relationships special and deep
● She had hate in her heart for no one. Heart free of any black spots, as she might say of her family
● Loved planning special events for the family to be together, that was the times she was happiest
● The way that she brought out her core self is being a supportive member of the family
● Live and let live kind of girl
● Take care of yourself, and everything will fall into place

Jody had the best laugh, the warmest personality, and will be missed by all who knew her. I'm so sorry for your loss.

I am so deeply sorry for your loss. She loved her boys and family more than anything. The world is a little less bright. A little less pink. A little less feather boa and glitter. What a complete loss. I’d imagine she’s making the stars twinkle just a little more up there. God speed to the one who always gave all of us the best Good Morning greetings. And always made us laugh and sing.

One of the funniest Jody moments I recall, we were out bargain shopping at Aldi’s, and of course, I was partially dressed in my Pj’s, a hot mess, because I ran out of coffee. Just as I looked up, our eyes meet across the produce section, we both awkwardly laugh, she presses her finger on her lips and shushes me away. Her sense of humor, bright personality, will be missed. My deepest condolences, and prayers to the family.

Mommy, Shirley Aken

My heart is so heavy. I miss her beautiful face,
I miss hearing her voice talking to me,
Her personality was larger than life.
She lit up the room wherever or whenever she was present.
Her personality was larger than life.
Such a loving and caring heart,
The singing voice of an angel.
Gone To Soon! The loss of her is immeasurably.
Sleep, my darling girl,
Free of worry and stress. Be at peace.
I will carry you in my heart and keep you safe.
Forever and Beyond. I Love You Jody Lee.
Until then, Our dear precious, JO JO

Sincere condolences to the family. So sorry for your loss Zak and Zyler. Many great memories with your mom. She always made me laugh.

My sister, my rock, my very first best friend as selfless as a person could be. She loved fiercely, gave everything to those she loved without hesitation. I don’t know how I will ever navigate this life without her. Her dedication and incredible love for her two sons was remarkable and it shows in the amazing men they have become. She brought out the best in everyone and always spoke her truth and gave those she loved the safe zone to do the same. I am comforted to know that she will never experience the heartache she has endured and as a very wise young person said recently “all her days will be beautiful now”. She will remain all around us in every sunrise, in every great thunderstorm, in every cool summer breeze. I love you sisterbelle more than you will ever know! And like you made me promise since we had babies I will always be here for yours no matter what

Devastated to hear of Jody’s passing as she embodied the strength, dedication and love of every single mother. It’s funny Because while I was supposed to be helping Jody, Jody so many times helped me without ever recognizing it. Her demeanor and ray of sunshine attitude in the face of so much adversity will continue to give me strength. Rest in eternal peace Jody you are forever loved.
