John J. Tranka


John J. Tranka, 74 of Galway, died Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at Albany Medical Center. Born in Ballston Spa on March 18, 1937, he was the son of the late Anthony and Mary Tranka.

John was an electrician at Tufflite Co. in Ballston Spa for over 40 years and also ran his greenhouse, Plants at Southline, from his home for many years. He enjoyed gardening and liked to spend time hunting and fishing in the Adirondack Mountains.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Janice Tranka, a brother, William Tranka and a granddaughter, Melanie Tranka. John is survived by his wife Ann Tranka, his sons, Mark Tranka of Ballston Spa, Timothy (Christie) Tranka of Ballston Spa and Steven (Martha) Tranka of Jarratt, VA, his daughters, Kathleen (John) Izzo and Lori Harrison both of Ballston Spa, many grandchildren and great grandchildren, his sisters, Jean Webster of Glens Falls and Mary Ann Brooks of Greenfield Center, brothers, Robert Tranka of Ballston Spa and Richard Tranka of Charlotte, NC, step children, Ron (Melissa) Gorham of Stillwater, Brenda Ervin of Vernon, VT and Diane (Richard) Barnes of Ballston Spa, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 1pm Saturday, February 25 at Armer Funeral Home, Inc. 39 East High Street, Ballston Spa. Burial will follow in Barkersville Cemetery, Galway. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday from 6-8 pm at the funeral home

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

We will never forget the ring of fire boat ride. The robbing of your potatoes out of your garden and deep frying them at your house. Kelvin remembers hunting experiences in the Adirondacks and many good times at your house. There are so many memories we could go on forever. Please everyone take care of themselves and God bless. We will miss you so very much John. I will try to remember all that you taught me with the plants, lol imagine that......... me remember. Jay will hopefully forget some that you taught him over the years. You seen him grow up, oh wait...... it's me that wants him to forget some of those ideas, lol not really.
