John K. Kloss


John K. Kloss of South Glens Falls, passed away Friday, April 8, 2011 at Glens Falls Hospital. Born in Newark, NJ, March 29, 1921 he was the son of the late John and Mary (Malec) Kloss of Wilton, NY. A World War II veteran, he entered the Army on October 7, 1942. He received the American Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, World War II Victory Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Medal with three Bronze Service Stars, and was honorably discharged on November 19, 1945. John worked for Scott Paper Co in Fort Edward as a finishing maintenance foreman for many years, retiring in 1979.

His hobbies included motorcycling, snowmobiling, hunting and all machinery. John was an exemplary father, grandpa, and friend who wouldn’t hesitate to help anyone. The family would like to thank Barb Klena for her friendship and devotion in caring for their father.

John was predeceased by his beloved son, Ronald Kloss, three sisters, Helen Williams, Katie Richardson, and Mary Ryan, and two brothers, Joseph Kloss and Steven Kloss. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Margaret, his children, Edward Kloss, Gerald Kloss, John Kloss, Jr all of South Glens Falls, Daniel Kloss and his wife Becky and their children, Joshua and Emily all of Bechertown, MA, Mary DeFilippo and her husband, Jerry and their children, Cara and Michael all of Ballston Spa, two sisters, Theresa M. Clute of Wilton and Betty K. Askins of Florida, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held 1:30pm Tuesday, April 12, at St Mary’s Catholic Church, Milton Avenue, Ballston Spa where a mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. There will be no calling hours. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Fort Edward. Memorial contributions may be made to St Mary’s School, 40 Thompson Street, Ballston Spa, NY 12020.
