Lawrence L. Edes

Lawrence L. Edes 82, passed away on Sunday, October 3, 2021 after a brief illness. He was born on April 12, 1939 in the Town of Saratoga, NY. He attended Schuylerville High School and was a member of the Green Sabres Drum and Bugle Corps.

In 1956, at the age of 17, Larry enlisted in the US Navy and served as an airdale aboard the flight deck of the USS Forrestal (CVA 59). Being a self trained and adept musician, he was a member of the band on the aircraft carrier entertaining many on board sailors and residents of many European port cities.

Following his three year tour of duty, he went on the travel the country working with many famous musicians, including Jerry Lee Lewis and Fats Domino. Being a musician was his lifelong passion. He was also a master technician for forty years.

He was predeceased by his parents Lemuel Edes and Nellie Edes Carden, sister Ella “Bunny” Carden, and brother Edward Carden, Jr.

Left to honor his memory are his wife of 57 years Sharon Edes; daughter Bridget King; grandchildren Tyler King and Gabrielle King; two great grandchildren Quintin and Willow Anderson; brothers Ronald Edes and Kenneth Carden; sisters Donna Reisinger and Irene Corson; stepbrothers William and Robert Carden; aunt Joan Beagle; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 10am Wednesday, October 13 at Armer Funeral Home, Inc., 39 East High Street, Ballston Spa. A service with military honors will follow at the Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Duell Road, Schuylerville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Lawrence may be made to Community Hospice of Saratoga, 179 Lawrence Street, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.

The family would like to thank the nursing staff on C3 at Saratoga Hospital and Community Hospice of Saratoga for their care and kindness.
