Obituaries


John L.Wilson of Ballston Spa and formerly of Albany, passed away Monday, January 24, 2011. Born in Albany, March 9, 1922, he was the son of the late Dr. Lewis A. and Luella Ellis Wilson. John proudly served his country during World War II. He was a staff sergeant with Company D of the 254th Infantry and was awarded the Silver Star for Gallantry in Action; three battle stars, two Presidential Unit Citations and one French Unit Citation. John was Park Manager at Saratoga State Park, retiring in 1984.

He was a devoted son, husband, father and grandfather, who loved the outdoors and spending time with his family and friends. He was happiest fishing on Lake Champlain or singing on Sundays at the Wishing Well Restaurant while his friend, Lou Palmer played piano. He was truly one of the Greatest Generation.

He was predeceased by the love of his life, Rose Avellino Wilson, in 1998. They were married for 51 years. He was also predeceased by his brother, Bob Wilson and sister, Lois Decker. He is survived by his son, Lewis A. Wilson, daughter, Nancy Jensen, grandson, Kenneth Jensen, sister, Ruth Willis and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, February 1, from 2-4 and 6-8pm at Armer Funeral Home, Inc 39 East High Street, Ballston Spa. A service will be held at 7:30pm. Henry J. Stanislowsky "Hank" of Ballston Spa, passed away Tuesday, January 11, 2011. Born in Saratoga Springs, May 20, 1954, he was the son of Eva Stanislowsky and the late John Stanislowsky, Sr. Hank owned and operated Stanski Builders for many years. He was a member of St Mary’s Catholic Church in Ballston Spa and the Northeast Builders Association. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. His greatest joy was spending time with his family.

Hank is survived by his loving wife, Tina Stanislowsky, his children, Jessica Stanislowsky of Saratoga Springs, Nicole Stanislowsky of Rexford, Kaitlin Stanislowsky of Malta and Henry Stanislowsky, Jr of Ballston Spa, 2 grandchildren, Treyvn and Layla, his mother, Eva Stanislowsky of St Cloud, FL, 3 brothers, John Stanislowsky, Jr (Beverly) of Ballston Spa, Jerry Stanislowsky of Albany, Joe Stanislowsky (Ellen) of Galway, sister, Carol Lawrence Moll (Bill) of Ballston Spa, mother in law, Peggy Fazio of Saratoga Springs and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Sunday, January 16 from 2-4pm at Armer Funeral Home, Inc 39 East High Street, Ballston Spa. A service will follow at 4pm. A graveside service will be held 10am Tuesday, January 18 at St Peter’s Cemetery, West Avenue, Saratoga Springs. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Corinne F. Feulner of Ballston Spa, passed away Monday, January 10, 2011. Born in Harrisville, NY, December 24, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Dorothy Gardner. Corinne worked for Hi-Roc Lanes in Saratoga Springs. She enjoyed camping. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren.

Corinne was predeceased by her daughter, Marilyn Seypura and her brother, Rev. Louis Gardner. She is survived by her husband Bernhardt ”Barney” Feulner, her children, Carol DeAngelo of Duanesburg, Mary Circe of Potsdam, June Torre of Mayfield, Patricia DeLuca of Palm Coast, FL, Arthur Seypura of Melrose FL, Michael Feulner of Schenectady and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 9:30am Friday, January 14 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Milton Avenue, Ballston Spa, where a mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Burial will follow at the Gerald B H Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Duell Road, Town of Saratoga. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Thursday evening from 6-8pm at the Armer Funeral Home, Inc. 39 East High Street, Ballston Spa. Memorial contributions may be made to the Susan G. Ruth E. Keeler Welch formerly of Ballston Spa, and most recently a resident of Alamogordo, New Mexico, passed away Friday, January 7, 2011. She was born May 24, 1926 in Ballston Spa, NY to Belle Minnie Castle and John Henry Keeler. She was married on May 15, 1948 to Wesley Elmond Welch in Ballston Spa, where they lived until they retired. She was a homemaker and worked at Church Mouse Preschool at the First Baptist Church in Ballston Spa. After retirement she spent most of the winters traveling with her husband in their RV and using Texas as their home base. Mr. and Mr. Welch lived many years in Kerrville, Texas; and upon the death of her husband she then went to live with her daughter and her husband in Alamogordo, New Mexico.

Mrs. Welch was predeceased by her husband Wesley, her parents and her brother Everett. Survivors include her daughter Karen Welch Turano and husband Peter Turano of Albuquerque, New Mexico; as well as grandchildren Marcus Turano and Nicholas Turano of Albuquerque, Amanda Turano of Scottsdale, Arizona; and great-granddaughter Kayla of Albuquerque. She is also survived by her son David Wesley Welch and wife Delia of Cedar Park, Texas; as well as grandchildren David Welch of Cedar Park, Angela Welch Licon of Austin, Texas; and great-granddaughter Kailin of Austin. She is also survived by her sisters Marian Keeler DeLong (Lynn), Dorothy Keeler Pingelski, Carol Keeler Hayner (Harvey); her brothers Earl Keeler (Phyllis), Warren Keeler; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to call from 9-11am Saturday, January 15, at Armer Funeral Home, Inc 39 East High Street, Ballston Spa. A service will follow at 11am. Burial will be in Ballston Spa Cemetery.

Ruth Elizabeth Welch will be sorely missed, but during her life she was definitely a bright shiny rainbow among the clouds.

Nancy J. Hogan Merchant of Ballston Spa, passed away Sunday, January 2, 2011. Born in Charlton, December 16, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Nancy Perkins. Nancy worked for Sears for many years. She was a graduate of Burnt Hills Ballston Lake High School and wrote the school alma mater. She was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary both of Schenectady. She was also a charter member of the Community Emergency Corp in Ballston Spa. She enjoyed watching Nascar, the Yankees and crocheting. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Nancy was predeceased by her husband, Frank Hogan, her son, Frank Hogan Jr, her granddaughter, Carol Hogan, her brothers and sisters, and 2nd husband, Albert Merchant. She is survived by her children, Margaret Haskell (Frank) of Tennessee, John Hogan (Barbara) of Tennessee, Thomas Hogan (Pam) of Tennessee, Nancy Vrijian (Vahan) of Florida, Lillian Stiles (Bruce) of Tennessee, Alice Smith (Mike) of Ballston Spa, daughter in law, Irene Hogan of Ballston Spa, sister, Della Groom of Ballston Spa, 23 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 9:30am Thursday, January 6 at St Mary’s Catholic Church, Milton Avenue, Ballston Spa, where a mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Burial will follow in St Mary’s Cemetery, Ballston Spa. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Wednesday evening from 6-8pm at Armer Funeral Home, Inc 39 East High Street, Ballston Spa.
