Patricia A. Rougie

Patricia Ann Rougie, 76, of Ballston Spa, NY passed away with her children by her side after a short battle with Bulbar ALS on October 30, 2021.

Patricia was born on January 7, 1945 in Whitehall, NY to Louis and Marjorie David. Patricia’s main priority in life was to serve others and to be the best mother, wife, and friend. She also had the pleasure to work with the sweet young children in the Head Start program as a teacher’s assistant and in the lunchroom as a helper. Mom joined the team at Wesley Nursing Home and Woodlawn Commons as a Resident Assistant.

She joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in 1968 and served her church callings with such love and devotion. She was Relief Society president several times throughout the years. She worked as a Nursery leader, Compassionate Service leader and many other callings. She always was a good example to everyone and loved to help others. She welcomed anyone in our home, letting our friends come in for dinner or a hug or just to be near a big family gathering. She never turned anyone away, always showing compassion. She was everyone’s Mom!!!

Patricia is survived by her ten children, Mary Robinson (Richard), Gene Rougie, Jr., Ida Thornton (Thomas), Will Rougie, Theresa DiGiulio (Richard), Christopher Rougie (Cathy), Patricia Lunt (John), Jeremy Rougie, (Nicole), Sara Stiles (Malcolm), and Jonathon Rougie (Krista); sister, Rose Telford; brother, Louie David; 29 Grandchildren, 27 Great Grandchildren and many other family and friends whom she loved. She is preceded in death by her parents Louis and Marjorie David, husband, Gene Rougie Sr, brothers Gene Brownell and Joey David, sister Phyllis Reckner; and granddaughters, Madison Stiles and Jessica Jones-Welch.

Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, November 2, from 11am to 12:30pm at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 10 Glenmore Avenue, Saratoga Springs. A service will follow in the Chapel immediately after the viewing. All are welcome to attend a Celebration of Life after the service for a meal and fellowship. A private burial will be held at the Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Patricia may be made to Missionary Fund, Community Hospice of Saratoga, or the ALS Angels Foundation

The family of Patricia would like to thank the caregivers at Hospice of Saratoga, especially Kelly Foley who was such an inspiration and help to all of us caring for Mom in addition to all Mom’s friends at the LDS church; we are truly blessed to have your support and love during this time of sorrow.

My dear sweet Aunt Pat or mom as I often called her. My heart is broken that you had to leave us but I’m so grateful for the 58 years we had together. You were a wonderful example to me throughout my life and a true disciple of Christ. You love the Lord with all your heart. Thank you for all the love, service, comfort, laughs and great times we had together. I will miss you every day for the rest of my life but so grateful to know where you are and that I will see you again someday. Rest In Peace sweet lady. You deserve it! I love you!

Pat, it’s been a great pleasure knowing you. You’ve always been someone to admire. In your quiet way, you’ve always been welcoming and friendly with those arms opened for a hug. I’ll miss reading your ‘Godly’ posts that you occasionally posted. You had a strong belief system so I know you’re up there looking down on the living with those that passed before you. You’re absence will leave a hole in your family, but you raised them well so they will pull together in your honor, mourning your death but more importantly celebrating your life with all those memories sharing a laugh or two. I’m glad I met you, people like you are a rare breed and I’m thankful I had that chance. My condolences to all the family for such a great loss, God Bless you all and may he help you move forward.

Your mom was such a lovely person. I never heard her say a bad word about anyone. I feel sad we didn't keep in touch as we did when we were younger. I hope you all know that our hearts are with you at this time, and hope that you can remember that good times will come again, and always keep her spirit alive within you.

Patty, John, Craig

He loves you more then you could ever know. Thank you Mom for teaching me to Love God, to serve others and to love unconditionally. I will miss you dearly but you will be forever in my heart. Mom, When you left us, you took the heart of the family with you. But you left us all the love that it held for your family and friends. We feel that love surrounding us. You are a true child of God. You honored the Lord during your time on earth by your generosity, gentleness, patience, cheerfulness, and understanding why people are the way they are. Mom, your presence will be painfully missed by all who’s lives you enriched. But your influence and goodness remains.

I have known Pat my whole life. She was the sweetest and most gracious person I've ever known. I also worked with Pat at Woodlawn Commons. She always had such empathy for everyone. She was loved by so many. Truly a great loss. RIP Pat. We will miss you. Sincerely Kathy.

My sweet, beautiful mother. How we will miss you here on earth but we know you are in Heaven rejoicing. I thank you for being a wonderful example in my life; for always putting us kids first; for being a great mom to others; for being you and for loving the Lord with all your heart. You will be missed beyond words, but never, ever forgotten. Fly high, soar above the clouds to your new home. We will see you again some day. We love you!

Ricky

The family’s heart has been stolen away. But you left with us the love that filled it. It embraces each and every one of us. You were a marvel, a true child of God. You were loved immensely but you knew that. Your presence on Earth will be missed.
