Peter J. Hettrich

Peter J. Hettrich 86, passed away on Friday, May 21, 2021. He was born in Ballston Spa, NY on January 5, 1935 to Earl and Alice Hettrich, and grew up in Malta, NY. Peter was a 1954 graduate of Saratoga Springs High School where he competed in wrestling and track and field.

Peter enlisted in the US Army and served throughout Europe. After he was honorably discharged, he worked for Stewarts Dairy and Shorey’s Express as a truck driver. Peter loved to garden, travel and compete in running events. He was a top master runner in NYS and competed in distances from the 800 to the half marathon.

He was predeceased by his loving wife of 56 years, Marie, his brother Foster, and his parents. Peter is survived by his children Frances Maurer (Paul), Dale Hettrich (Jennifer) and David Hettrich (Elisabeth); his adoring grandchildren Steven, Sydney, Jaden, and Jillian; sister Naomi Boucher, and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours on Tuesday, May 25 from 5pm to 7pm at Armer Funeral Home, Inc., 39 East High Street, Ballston Spa. A private funeral will be held and Peter will be laid to rest with his wife in Malta Ridge Cemetery. Memorial contributions in memory of Peter may be made to Community Hospice of Saratoga, 179 Lawrence Street, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.

I am so sorry to learn of your dad's death. I did not find out in time to make the wake. My prayers are with all of you during this difficult time. I know he must be happy to be with your mom. They were both so nice. I always enjoyed visiting with them at Shirley's and Elks dinners. My favorite time was when he got the last piece of chocolate cream pie and Judy was not happy about it lol. May it help to know others care.
