My family has been friends with Bob for as long as I remember. He has been are hair stylist for just as long. Bob even came to my sister's wedding and worked on our hair for her big day. Bob will be missed by all. Happy trails and card games with my Mom.

Shelly, Rene and Family, I am so sorry to learn of Bob's passing. I and my sons appreciated his haircuts, his company, his way, his pup Suzy and your store for basically all the years we've been getting haircuts. We were just up in the North Country and I was thinking of him as we were in Chestertown and we did some sledding on the town hill and touring around frozen Schroon Lake. Wishing your family love, peace and healing in this very difficult time. Bob was a great guy, we'll miss him terribly and remember him greatly. Ken, Tommy and Matt.

Barry Betz, Sr.

Shelley & Family: It was with a heavy heart & a stunningly profound sadness when I learned about the passing of Bob. He was our barber & friend for many, many years. My sons loved going there for the bowl of lollipops & getting to play with Suzy in addition to getting their haircut. Bob & I always talked about the Elks. He was always interested in our life. He saw the boys excitement when they got their first bike, eventually their first car, & then their first girlfriend, and always responded to it. I admired that! He was a great guy & we will miss him dearly. Our sincerest sympathies to his entire family. We will keep you in our thoughts & prayers during this most difficult time. RIP Bob!

So sorry for your loss. He will be missed.

I met Bob at the Razor Inn and I believe I'd been going to see him for about 10 years. He always asked me how my kids were doing and he obviously loved to tell stories. He was a easy guy to get to know and to like.

I took my father-in-law (Ron) to get his haircut from Bob when Ron was dying of cancer. They shared stories about their service in the Army/Navy and he made Ron feel good. His haircut was on the house.

I know he was very proud of his children and his grandchildren. He always seemed to have a new picture on the wall. He spoke about all of you most every time.

I always looked forward to getting my haircut from Bob. I'm sorry for your loss.

Shelly, I was so sorry to hear about your father. I was so looking forward to seeing him when I got back since the barber here in Orange Beach was awful. I figured my hair would grow out in time for Bob tofu’s it. So sorry for a great loss of such a great man father grandfather. ❤️

Thomas F. Bulger

Bob Holmes was one of the kindest and funniest individuals I ever met. I was first introduced to him by my brother Steve, who was one of his regular customers. I found out afterwards when I had been in the hospital for months that he came to the hospital and cut my hair for free, as a favor to my brother and mother. I never forgot that. I was his loyal customer for years after, and I always enjoyed my visits at the Razor Inn. Bob was not only wise, but he had a great understanding of "doing unto others as you would have done to yourself." I will miss him enormously. I still recall his love of the outdoors, his love of his mother, and his love of Chestertown.

In the book by Stephen Covey, "The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People," the author states that the true measure of an individual is the legacy they leave behind. Bob was both effective, and left behind a wonderful legacy.

May he rest in peace.

We are very sorry for your loss, he will be missed. George would go to the shop every three weeks for a cut and a chat even if he really didn’t need a trim. I will miss seeing him out side with his dog taking a break from cutting hair. Our best memory of Bob was last summer when he and Rene stopped by the camp. Sending healing thoughts to his family. Doug and I send our heartfelt condolences to all of Bob's family. We truly felt that we were members of his very large "family". We were all "related" through his humor and his genuine concern for everyone he met. Bob has been a part of our lives for well over 30 years and as difficult as it is for us to accept his passing, we can only imagine the sadness of his immediate family. He was one of a kind. May he rest in peace.

Shelley,
I was heartbroken when my Mom called me yesterday to tell me the news about your Dad. He was a wonderful man who I always looked forward to seeing when he was cutting my hair for the last 45 years. Whenever I came back to Albany, he was always my first stop. There was never a doubt who would give my son Connor his first haircut. My family and I will keep you and your entire family in our prayers. May Bob Rest In Peace.

Renee, Shelley, Robbie, Danny and family I was deeply saddened when I heard of Roberts passing. He was such a kind funny man who always even when I was a child took time to chat with me at reunions. I loved the year he took us to a swimming hole and my Dad and brother have fond memories of fishing together. My Mom shared many fond childhood memories of times with her cousin. Some people touch your heart and he was one of them. May he Rest In Peace

Rene, Shelley, Robbie and Dan; I was so very sorry to hear about Bob's passing. My mom (Joan) called me today with the sad news. I met Mr. Holmes over 50 years ago when he was working in the shop on Wolf Road and still recall his kindness the first time he gave me a "Princeton" haircut. He was a great friend to my dad (Ron) and they went on many fishing adventures together years ago. I was lucky enough to join them on few of those fishing outings and I always appreciated Bob's kindness and patience. In his later years my dad would reminisce about fishing trips in the past and we'd often talk about the outings with Bob. I am honored and blessed to have known Bob. My condolences to you and your family.

Denis and Joan Ryder

Our hearts go out to Rene and the Holmes family. Bob was one of the good ones. May he rest in peace.
