Susan Jane Davis

Susan Jane Davis, age 93, passed away peacefully February 17th, 2021. She was born December 1927 in Chattanooga, TN, to Madelaine and Robert, along with her twin sister, Marie Elizabeth (Betty). She married the love of her life, John Bradley Davis, on December 26, 1961.

Throughout her life, she worked as a key punch operator for AT&T, and an administrative assistant for a tree removal company in Rockland County, but her most meaningful job in her eyes was being a mom. Once she adopted her daughter Wendy in September, 1968, Susan was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her daughter and embraced every moment with her. She especially embraced her role as "Gramda" to her three grandchildren.

She is the loving and dedicated mother of her only child Wendy (John) of Malta, NY, and the adored Gramda of Justin (Abbey) Moore, Cetera (Ben) Moore and Victoria. She was predeceased by her husband, John Bradley Davis in 1988, after retiring to Hendersonville, NC. In addition to her husband she is predeceased by her brothers Robert Lee and William, along with her sister Mary Dorothy and her twin sister Marie Elizabeth.

My mom was the strongest woman I've ever met. She was a fierce protector of her family and always spoke her mind. She decided when she turned 80 that she could say and do whatever she wanted...she had "earned" it. Along her life, she always gave back. She was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and Hospice for many years, as well as a Girl Scout Leader. She found great joy in helping others. An avid card player, she won many bridge tournaments in her day, and played well into her retirement. She was truly loved by all who had the joy of seeing her infectious smile and experiencing her sincere care and love for her friends and family. She was a blessing.

A private Mass will be held Monday, February 22, 2021 at Christ Episcopal Church in Ballston Spa, and she will be laid to rest at St. Anthony's Cemetery in Nanuet, NY with her husband John, on February 23rd, 2021.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Community Hospice ( in honor of Susan.
