Walter Paraszczak


Walter Paraszczak 86, of Ballston Spa passed away Tuesday, February 7, 2012. He was born in the Ukraine on December 12, 1925 and fought with the resistance against Hitler during World War II. He made his way to England and arrived in New York City by boat in 1954. Walter worked for Tufflite Plastics in Ballston Spa as a plastics pattern maker designing many of their products. He retired in 1977.

Walter was a communicant of St Mary’s Catholic Church in Ballston Spa and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed traveling, horseracing and going to the Racino in Saratoga.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Dorothy Dunn Paraszczak in 1964, two brothers, Leon and Peter, and three sisters, Magda, Stefanie and Anna. Walter is survived by his wife of 41 years, Elizabeth MacMillin Paraszczak, his children, Steven Parasczak (Martha) of Clifton Park and Angela Watt of Dania, Florida, his grandchildren, Stefanie Gaffney and Michael Paraszczak, great grandchildren, Aislinn, Brendan and Madilyn and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 9:30am Friday, February 10 at St Mary’s Catholic Church, Milton Avenue, Ballston Spa, where a mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. Burial will follow in St Mary’s Cemetery, Ballston Spa. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Thursday from 4:30-7:30pm at Armer Funeral Home, Inc 39 East High Street, Ballston Spa.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.

Walter will be missed dearly, I can remember having Walter and Liz at our home occasionally on Thanksgiving Day. Walter would share stories of the past and especially would love to hear his Ukranian accent. We will miss Walter and know now that he is at peace.
